Our department consists of 20 sworn positions including the Chief, Lieutenant, Detective Sergeant, 4 patrol sergeants, 1 detective and 12 patrolmen. We also have one civilian position that takes care of our receptionist, records clerk, and evidence technician duties.
Officers typically handle about 5,500 calls for service each year in addition to any self initiated activity such as traffic enforcement, suspicious activity investigations, and parking enforcement.
Our officers work a 4/10 schedule with Wednesday being overlap day, allowing time to maintain training and to work on any special projects that cannot be done during an officers normal shift.
As outlined in our Mission Statement; every member of our department is committed to keeping Lander a safe place to live, work, play, learn and visit. My personal commitment as your department administrator is to provide the highest quality law enforcement services possible by making the most of the funds entrusted to us. Always feel free to contact me or any member of our department if you have questions or need assistance.
With Chief Gene Galitz's retirement the department is now down 3 positions. However, due to economic and budgetary considerations, we are not hiring at this time. Keep an eye on our Employment page for future postings when a position is available.
