Detective Fred Cox has been with the Lander Police Department for 15 years. Detective Cox grew up in Lander and has been a member of the community his entire life. After putting himself through the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy, Detective Cox joined the Lander Police Department in 1995.
After working in the Patrol Division for 10 years, including working as a Field Training Officer for new hires, Fred was promoted to Detective in 2005. In August 2009 he was again promoted to Detective Sergeant, and in June of 2010 Fred was appointed Chief of Police after Gene Galitz's retirement.
